I thought I would write a little update on tonight’s storms that are affecting Arkansas right now and will spread thoughout the evening into Southern Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennesee, and Alabam. The storms right now are firing off. The Storm Prediction Center has issued multiple Meso Discussions regarding this line and a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watch. These watches are reserved for when deadly long track tornadoes will likely be forming in a watch box. The storms are going to be hitting after dark into the early morning hours and will be very fast moving. The storms will be in areas often that are very poorly networked with roads.
Hodographs for the area on models continue to show an extremely violent atmosphere typical of that for long track tornadoes. I can not stree this enough, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms will be hitting after dark when families are in bed for the night, and thats why its important to have a NOAA Weather Radio.
Many Chasers Calling Bust
You should not be expecting much storm chasing footage out of this storm for multiple reasons. At its peak it will be way after dark, and video is hard to get after dark. These storms will also be very hard to catch up with, and keep up with. There fast movers and the road network in a lot of the areas best conducive for tornadoes aren’t the best. However we should expect to see plenty of damage documentation from this storm.
First Tornado Warnings
As I finished up this post the first tornado warnings were issued.
